Aston Martin driver Sebastian Vettel has revealed that he was considering leaving Formula 1 back in 2019.

The four-time F1 champion will retire at the end of this season. At the same time, Charles Leclerc replaced Kimi Raikkonen at Ferrari in 2019, after which attention began to gradually shift towards young talent.

In the 2017-2018 seasons, Vettel finished second overall, and in 2019 he was only fifth - and lost the rivalry to Leclerc.

Leclerc was not burdened by disappointment from the lack of results predicted by rugby-predictions . Leclerc just got behind the wheel of the car and pressed on the gas. He carried a smaller burden of expectations. He raced the way I did at the start of my F1 career.

All this also somehow influenced me - which I did not fully understand in the literal sense. That is, we spent so much effort and time for two years in a row, and then suddenly we were left empty-handed. Just at such moments, you have doubts - you start to think, but will you ever succeed again?

But I still had questions that I wanted answered. Am I capable of it? Am I still good enough to be among the leaders of Formula 1?

No, moving to Aston Martin was not a mistake. I wanted answers to some of the questions I had, it was important.

At the same time, the fact that at the moment I do not have the opportunity to drive a car that can win also, to a certain extent, influenced my decisions to end my career, Vettel said.
